I eat frog eggs for breakfast

I know what youā€™re thinking, thatā€™s frigginā€™ disgusting. But itā€™s actually a super food. Let me explainā€¦

Iā€™m not lying these frog eggs are a super food, itā€™s been crowned the Aztec Superfood and the name of it in Mayan language means strength.

Itā€™s said to boost energy and increase stamina, and thatā€™s something I want in my body!

In case you haven’t noticed, our family’s diet is all about health and healing. We’ve faced our fair share of challenges with autoimmune issues, blood issues, weight issues, and we’ve learned first hand that what we put on our plate has direct impact.

We talk about my husband’s autoimmune condition and how we have been and still are treating it in this video here if you want to check it out: Treating Autoimmune with PEMF and Diet.

Instead of waiting until things spiral out of control and spending thousands of dollars trying to “fix” our health through treatments, we choose to be proactive.

We’ve learned that small, consistent choices add up, and sometimes the simplest foods have the biggest impact on health. Which brings me to today’s unexpected superfood – Frog Eggs! (Ok, not actual frog eggs, but stick with me here.)

Can you guess what the real name of this is? (Ugh canā€™t get nothinā€™ past you) you guessed it. Chia seeds.

When I first discovered this, it eerily resembled frog eggs and I call it that ever since. They literally look like little gelatinous spheres with a little black dot in the middle and the texture was a little gel-like aka slimy.

Frog eggs donā€™t have a particular flavor so itā€™s adaptable in any setting you put it in. It’s super versatile which makes them the perfect canvas for any flavor you’re craving that day.

Love blueberries? Toss in some frozen berries. Peanut butter and chocolate? That works too. How about a tropical fruit flavored one? Yes, yes and yes. It will adapt to your needs which makes it so fun to eat and why I have it every single day.

Nutrition Facts on “Frog Eggs” (aka Chia Seeds)

Before you knock it, let me try to convince you with some facts. These little things pack a serious punch and I bet by the end of this, you’ll be tempted to try them yourself.

1 oz serving (about 2 tablespoons) you can get:

  • 138 calories
  • 4.7g of protein
  • 8.6g healthy Omega 3 fats
  • 12g carbs
  • 9.8g fiber

Now, some of you may know Iā€™ve been on a weight loss journey again to get rid of my last bits of weight getting to my goal. Chia seeds have totally helped me progress towards my goal!

Why This Matters for Weight Loss:

  1. Keeps You Full Longer ā€“ That fiber content is insaneā€”chia absorbs 10-12 times its weight in liquid, forming a gel-like consistency that slows digestion and helps you stay full for hours.
It may seem like a little bit of food but trust me, it’s going to get you full and keep you there.
  2. Balances Blood Sugar ā€“ No sugar spikes and crashes, just steady energy.
  3. High in Protein ā€“ Protein boosts metabolism and helps with muscle retention, which is key when losing weight.
  4. Low-Calorie Density ā€“ You get a big, filling portion for relatively few calories. A typical chia pudding made with unsweetened almond milk is only ~150-200 calories per serving (depending on toppings).
  5. Hydration Booster ā€“ Because they absorb so much liquid, they help with hydration, reducing water retention and bloating.

How I make frog eggs for breakfast:

Alright, so how do I actually turn these tiny “frog eggs” into a delicious satisfying breakfast? It’s so ridiculously easy and takes a literal minute to prep. The best part you can customize it however you like. Here’s how I make mine:

In a bowl, jar or tupperware of choice add:

2-4 tbsp of chia seeds (depending on how hungry I am)

Ā½ cup of almond milk or any plant based milk of choice
(If you’re using canned coconut milk, you have to thin it out with some water – just a thought)

Optional: Add a couple of cubes of ice because I love mine super cold (or you can make it and stick it in the fridge. I just don’t have the patience I want my breakfast now!)

Note: These little things expand when added to water, it will absorb the water and puff up like a balloon so it may look like a lot of water but it will all come together.

Flavorings:

  • Blueberry and banana is one of my favs (frozen blueberries, sliced fresh banana)
  • Peanut butter and banana (1 tbsp peanut butter, sliced fresh banana)
  • Chocolate and peanut butter with a bit of monk fruit sweetener (1 tbsp cocoa powder, 1 tbsp peanut butter, 1/8th tsp monk fruit or you can use honey)
  • Mango coconut chips (1/4 cup mango chunks, sprinkle of coconut chips, use coconut milk instead of almond milk)

You mix all these ingredients together in a bowl, stick it in the fridge or leave it out the morning of. Let it do its thing and boom. Breakfast just like that!

I love this stuff and I hope Iā€™ve convinced you to eat some frog eggs yourself.

Would You Consider This?

Look, I get itā€”chia pudding looks a little… questionable at first. If the idea of eating something that resembles frog eggs makes you hesitate, I totally understand. But hear me outā€”the benefits far outweigh the texture.

This little superfood is packed with fiber, omega-3s, and protein, and it helps keep you full for hours. Plus, the more you eat it, the more normal it becomes. Itā€™s just like anything elseā€”your taste buds (and brain) adjust.

And hereā€™s the trick: flavor is everything. Add cinnamon and vanilla for warmth, blend in cocoa for a chocolatey twist, or toss in berries and a drizzle of maple syrup to give it a fruity, dessert-like feel. Before you know it, you wonā€™t even think about the textureā€”youā€™ll just be enjoying a creamy, nourishing breakfast that actually works for your body. So, would you consider giving it a try? šŸ˜‰
