Starting a blog in 2023 – Friday Reflections Week 2

Starting a blog week 2

Starting a blog in 2023, week 2

What a week it has been, it felt like the world was a tornado around me, everything was happening all at once and projects flying around like a hurricane. It’s Friday! We managed to get everything we needed to get done, done. Except for one thing, make soap. We’ll have to get to this next week.

What I learned starting a blog in 2023 this week – Week 2

  • I learned to write a transactional blog post and saved it on my Notion page as a template
  • How to create an email sign-up form through ConvertKit
  • How to add a call to action button within a blog post

This week I learned how to write a transactional blog post that can potentially create some revenue through the post. Since Mother’s Day is coming up, I decided to write a blog post on the 15 Best Mother’s Day Gifts for Homeschool Moms. I created this blog by creating a list of 15 top picks for Mother’s Day gifts I felt would be a great fit for any homeschooling mom to provide ideas for whoever finds this post.
Moms are hard to shop for and this was close to my heart because I am too a homeschool mom of 5 and I know many of these top picks would be a great choice for anyone who homeschools.

I also learned how to create an email sign-up form through ConvertKit, an email capture platform that can create weekly newsletter broadcasts and marketing emails. This process was quite easy and honestly very needed. All blogs should have an avenue to capture their audience’s emails to later convert them monetarily in the future.

I also learned to add a call to action button within a blog post as you’ll see in the post I published this week like this Buy Smart Mug
This button ultimately will take you to one of the coolest things I’ve found while window shopping on Amazon for awesome Mother’s Day gifts (for myself) and you can literally add any links to this button. A call to action button is needed so your audience can quickly click on it to shop whatever it is you’re suggesting right there in the blog post.

You can create your own buttons by installing this WordPress Plugin: Forget About Shortcode Buttons

Conclusion:

I am making these Friday Reflections a weekly post because I want to be held accountable for posting every week at least once so I can share exactly what I worked on to create this blog. Hey, you may just be looking at the next empire of a blog making hundreds of thousands of dollars per month! *wink*.

The goal for this blog is not only to create a place for me to speak freely and truly reflect, but I wanted to be able to document that this blog thing is actually achievable and what were the steps I took to grow this from the bottom up.
I also want to prove that consistency is always key to do anything, consistency is the key to becoming really great at something. It can potentially create a real small business out of this so called blogging thing that everyone thinks is dead in 2023 because heck, EVERYONE, and their mom do it and make a decent income off of it, why can’t I as an ordinary work from home, homeschooling, Mompreneur do it too? It’s possible right?

Well, let’s see this unfold together.
Till next time,
Rosa
