I started a blog in 2023 and here's what I learned week 9

I feel like I am getting the hang of things, writing this blog weekly. I set a goal of writing 2 blog posts a week whether it be a blog type post or a recipe post, as long as it’s 2 a week I’m good. I’ve been posting 3, including my weekly Friday Reflections which I quite enjoy.

I love being able to document what I did to build this blog weekly, what are my ultimate fails and ultimately the big question – Am I making money?

Am I making money?

Simple answer, no, I haven’t earned a single penny from my blog since its inception nine weeks ago. However, this journey has already provided me with a wealth of knowledge and, to be honest, I am just beginning to scratch the surface.

Have you ever found yourself delving into the depths of Pinterest or Google, only to be bombarded with countless pins boasting, “How I made $1375 in my first month of blogging!” or “Discover how I pocketed $2984 in my first week of blogging!”?

Realistically and let me be brutally honest – it’s not true. Not for the common folks. Here’s why.

As a completely noob blogger such as I, for the first few weeks or months, you’re spending so much time setting up the blog and getting a true understanding of how everything works! Let alone making money.

As a new blogger, you’re busy learning the basics. You’re trying to understand what the different categories are, watching YouTube videos to learn how to use Google Analytics, figuring out what topic you want your blog to focus on, and deciding on the best way to set up your blog. All of this takes a lot of time, hard work, and even more patience.

No earnings, just learning.

Just because I’m not making money yet doesn’t mean I’m going to give up. I’ve seen others succeed and I want to show that it can be done, and what that really looks like. I’m going to keep going no matter how long it takes, because I don’t quit. Plus, I’m learning a lot! I’m finding out what I enjoy writing about, what I’m excited to share, and what I know that I can tell others.

I’ve discovered areas of interest that ignite my passion, and various topics constantly provide me with writing inspiration that I hope benefits our community. I am firmly of the opinion that the exchange of knowledge paves the path to success, and it’s this foundational belief that propels me forward, fueling my commitment to deliver valuable content that not only educates, but also inspires and empowers our readers to reach new heights in their own journeys.

If you’re here looking to start a blog and you’re in the same stage as me, let’s do this and grow together! Comment below, email me, let’s struggle, cry together, write together and make this HAPPEN!

Until next time,
XOXO Rosa.

P.S. Remember how I struggled to get Google Analytics working on my own last week? Well, I am blessed to have a tech savvy husband and had him help me set up my Google Analytics and it’s finally giving me some numbers to work with, WOO!
